Davies was asked by Fleet Bank to provide the most cost effective solution to their need for 240 workstations. Davies was provided with block plans for the space to be outfitted with the workstations.Working in conjunction with Fleet and their architect, Davies Design Department configured the block plans utilizing components from Fleet's asset inventory.
Coordinating with Fleet's successful asset redeployment program, Davies was able to find over 3200 Steelcase 9000 components within Fleet's inventory that were remanufactured for use on this project. Davies was also able to remanufacture over 200 guest chairs and conference tables for this project from Fleet's inventory. While Fleet's inventory was able to support a large portion of the product required for this project, additional product was required to complete the build out. This product was supplied from Davies remanufactured inventory at a significant savings over new product.

Faced with the cable requirements and ergonomic needs of the office environment today, Davies was able to provide an expanded cableway for all panels that allowed the panels to accommodate 32 CAT 5 Data Cables. Several ergonomic retrofits were engineered by Davies to address current ergonomic, health, and safety considerations.

The installation was completed within the requested time frame, and Fleet realized a cost avoidance savings of over $500,000 for the furniture portion of this project based on the solutions provided by Davies.

This type of project which utilizes the clients existing surplus assets remanufactured to like new condition is what we refer to as a "Value Engineered" project. Thinking out of the box to recycle and re-use existing assets can save thousands of dollars and in many cases hundreds of thousands of dollars through Davies "Value Engineering".
