Davies was contracted to work with Delmar on all phases of the design process for the new building. We started with programming sessions with all departments to determine how they currently operated, what changes would be beneficial and what kind of expansion they anticipated in the next five years. Davies presented several conceptual designs to the client and eventually one was selected for development. Davies worked closely with Delmar Thomsons' timelines with the architect and contractor to complete the finished interior floorplan. While the building was under construction, Davies then shifted its focus to detailed furniture and finish specification documents. Furniture specifications went out to bid and Davies put together a creative package utilizing our unique product exchange program. Delmars' existing facility was outfitted with Haworth Unigroup™ workstations that Davies took back on exchange for remanufactured Herman Miller Ethospace™ product.

Furniture Highlights:
Remanufactured Herman Miller Ethospace™ was selected for the open area workstations for its aesthetic qualities and the ability to run beltline power and cabling. We specified a step down design and incorporated glass tiles to maintain openness throughout the space. Davies is not restricted to any manufacturer limitations, so we were able to design and manufacture custom curvilinear worksurfaces to meet their exact needs. From our programming sessions we found that flexibility was a key issue. As a result, we specified mobile pedestals as well as mobile ½ round tables throughout that could be brought together for informal meetings. We also incorporated casual conference areas throughout the office space comprised of Jofco™ Lounge chairs with tablet arms and whiteboard tables. Several workstation retrofits were utilized including J-channel wire management, desk mounted surge protectors, articulating keyboard arms, and monitor lifts. Davies also used a blend of remanufactured and new seating based on the ergonomic requirements of each space.
Custom surfaces, remanufactured Steelcase 9000™ service modules and new storage units were used in the private offices. A "U" shaped layout, which wrapped around the perimeter of the office helped to maximize worksurface and storage in a small space. Again, mobile tables and pedestals were incorporated in the offices to promote flexibility.
The executive offices were upgraded with new OFS Quest™ series wood casegoods. Delmar opted to upgrade their standard ergonomic Humanscale Freedom™ Chair to leather in these offices to provide a more sophisticated look and feel.
Davies was also responsible for all training and conference rooms, which were built out with Davies modular tables on casters. Training rooms were specified with new Fixtures Bola™ chairs on casters. Conference rooms with remanufactured Steelcase™ seating.
Entering the Delmar Thomson Learning facility, a combination of finishes are used to enhance the feel of the space. Davies used a remanufactured Herman Miller Ethospace™ station with wood and glass tiles and a Corian™ transaction top to create the reception station. New Jofco™ lounge chairs and Nucraft™ tables were used in the waiting area to give this space a warm inviting feel.
